While most of us have had fan-girl moments when it comes to our favourite celebrity or sports stars, Tennis player Maria Sakkari got to level it up when she stole Roger Federer’s towel after a match.

Playing in the Hopman Cup mixed double’s match, Team Greece which consisted of Sakkari and Stefanos Tsitsipas beat Team Switzerland, consisting of Belinda Bencic and Roger Federer. The winning move was 23-year-old Sakkari’s return of Federer’s serve.

After the match, Sakkari went from rival to major fangirl, and was over the moon when she shook hands with the 37-year-old tennis star. In an interview after the match, Sakkari mentions how ecstatic she felt, and on noticing that Federer had left a towel on his seat, decides to walk over and take it from the other side. Watch the video below.

Twitter found this move extremely cute.

Sakkari said that she intended to keep the towel as a ‘souvenir.’ After beating Federer and Bencic, Team Greece has advanced in the Hopman cup which is currently being played at Perth, Australia.
