Four armymen, including an Army major and three soldiers were martyred in Gurez, north Kashmir, while foiling an infiltration bid, sources told PTI on Tuesday, 7 August.
According to media reports, two terrorists were also killed in the operation.

Amarnath Yatra Resumes After Shutdown, 454 Pilgrims Leave for Kashmir Valley
A small batch of 454 pilgrims left Jammu for the Kashmir Valley on Tuesday as the annual Amarnath Yatra resumed after remaining suspended for two days, officials said.
Police said the yatris left Bhagwati Nagar Yatri Niwas in an escorted convoy of 11 vehicles. This includes pilgrims going to both Baltal and Pahalgam base camps.
The yatra had remained suspended for two days because of the protest shutdown called by separatists in the Kashmir Valley.

Crowds stayed put through the night outside Chennai’s Kauvery Hospital, where DMK chief M Karunanidhi is undergoing treatment. Karunanidhi’s daughter Kanimozhi met the people outside the hospital in the wee hours of Tuesday, 7 August.
The DMK chief suffered a decline in his medical condition on Monday. The hospital had said maintaining his vital organ functions “continues to be a challenge”.
