Geeta Dipak Wagere and her husband were waiting to catch a train to Pune from Dadar railway station on December 24. However, Geeta’s water broke in the platform itself before the couple could board the train.
It was then that cops who were stationed nearby decided to step up and help the woman in labour. With the help of other commuters, the four officers held up a wall of bedsheets around Geeta and her husband. CCTV footage of the platform shows some women who are standing around Geeta, who is sprawled on the floor. They and the police men crowd around Geeta as she delivers the baby.
Good deeds seldom go unnoticed on social media and neither did this one. As soon as a video of the proceedings reached Twitter, people started sharing it and hailing the cops and the fellow commuters as heroes who saved the day.
The delivery was successful and both mother and baby are doing well now.
When you do see it take place right in front of your eyes, every bit of cynicism fades away and you feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Don’t believe me? Then take a look at this on-the-spot baby delivery at Mumbai’s Dadar station! https://t.co/psFNJHAsjC
