On Thursday, Deepika Padukone unveiled her magnificent wax statue in London at the famous Madame Tussauds museum. She went live on her Instagram and gave her fans a sneak peek of what the statue looks like. The unveiling was attended by Padukone’s parents as well as Ranveer Singh’s parents. During the Instagram live, Ranveer Singh was heard playfully asking if he could take the statue home with him.
However, what’s even more interesting is Anisha Padukone’s reaction to the wax statue. The younger Padukone took to social media to express her feelings about such a big event in her sister’s life. She posted a picture of Deepika with the statue and captioned it as, “As if one of her was not enough. Double trouble”. A very tongue in cheek comment, the Instagram post is probably the most sibling thing ever! See for yourself.
Impressed with the wax statue of herself, Padukone was beaming. So was her husband Ranveer Singh who also took a moment to thank the team behind the statue. Padukone has also dedicated this statue to her foundation ‘Live Laugh Love’ that focuses on the importance of mental health.
As a little girl, I was a very curious kid, for me, purpose is something that is very important. However, big or small, whatever I am doing in my life, purpose and why we do what we do is very important to me. After I got a call from Madame Tussauds, I thought what is the purpose of this, why are we doing this, or what is it that my fans will remember me for, remember my figure for, what is it that I would like to leave behind, and the cause of mental health is very close to my heart, it is something that I am extremely passionate about. I said that’s it, I would like for my fans when they see my figure I hope it reminds them of someone who did something for the cause of mental illness, who worked towards creating awareness and destigmatizing mental illness. I hope that it gives people a sense of upliftment and a sense of hope. I hope that message comes through”, said Padukone while expressing her thoughts about the statue.
Having your own wax statue at London’s Madame Tussauds has been a stamp of honour and success for a long time now. Other Bollywood actors who also have their wax statues at Madame Tussauds include Shah Rukh Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, Salman Khan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Madhuri Dixit Nene etc.
The actor had announced her Madame Tussauds wax status in 2018. “I think Madame Tussauds is iconic in so many ways, you know it actually feels great to be a part of that,” said Padukone while making the announcement on Facebook.
Padukone will also appear on the cover of Vogue US April edition.
