India in the Driver’s Seat at Adelaide, Says Sachin Tendulkar

Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar believes India are in the driver’s seat and firm favourites to take a 1-0 lead in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy with a victory in the series opener at Adelaide.

Day 3 of the first Test ended with India leading Australia by 166 runs with seven second innings wickets still in hand, and the legendary batsman feels the hosts will have no way back in the game unless they bowl exceedingly well at the start of Day 4 on Sunday, 9 December.

Tendulkar wasn’t alone in reckoning the opening Test is now India’s to lose. Here’s the best of the reaction from Twitter after another engaging day of Test-match action.

The lead stretching to where it did was down to the Indian batsmen putting a much more presentable face in front of Australia’s new-ball bowlers, led by KL Rahul and Murali Vijay’s 63-run stand for the first wicket – India’s highest opening partnership in nine overseas Tests so far.

One particular shot from Rahul – a spectacular cover-driven six off Pat Cummins – left several viewers gasping.

The late afternoon battle between Nathan Lyon and the combine of Cheteshwar Pujara and Virat Kohli, however, won the day for most purists.
